Job Description: Grant Writer

Over the past 20 years, the Heschel Center for Sustainability has been a driving force in shifting Israeli society towards a more sustainable future – socially, environmentally, and economically – by focusing its activities on leadership development, education, networking, and reflective activism.  Through our work with governmental and non-governmental agencies, as well as local community leaders, Heschel has continued to foster activism and community based projects across all sectors of Israeli society and demographics: Jewish and Arab, urban and rural, central and peripheral.

The grant writer will join the RD Director in various capacities, mainly in grant writing and writing marketing pieces.

Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership over writing and producing grant proposals and reports in a professional and structured manner

  • Being a part of the Heschel Center staff

  • Participating in Resource Development meetings

  • Take initiative and manage the submissions calendar

  • Translate materials

  • Write marketing materials

The ideal candidate must:

  • Speak and write English as a first language

  • Have experience of at least a year in grant-writing

  • Have an ability to write in an accurate and convincing manner both in Hebrew and English

  • Have the willingness to stay on the job long-term

  • Be able to use Google Docs

  • Have strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Ability to write in Hebrew

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google docs

  • The ability to work individually and as part of a team

  • A passion towards environmental sustainability and social and economic justice

Terms of Position:

The Heschel Center's office is located in Tel Aviv. The ideal candidate does not necessarily have to be located in Tel Aviv, but must be able to get to the office several times a week.  Position is to begin March 15 at 50% position. The Grant Writer will report directly to the RD Director and works alongside the resource development team.
